FIV ~ Feline Immunodeficiency Virus FIV causes a potentially fatal viral diesease that interferes with the immune system of a cat. The virus lives in the blood of the infected cat and is carried in their system throughout their life. Infected cats may expose healthy cats with which they come in contact, most often by biting. Cats infected with FIV may remain healthy for up to 10 years. While some infected cats show no sign of disease, others may display such initial symptoms as... fever, loss of appetite, diarrhea, lethargy and swollen lymph nodes. As the disease progresses, symptoms may occur such as... weight loss, sores in and around the mouth, eye lesions, poor hair coat and chronic infections. Eventually, the immune system becomes too weak to fight off other infections or diseases. As a result, the cat will die from one of the subsequent infections. Feline AIDS is caused by infection with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) More information on FIV
Rabies Of all animal diseases, Rabies is probably the most feared. The Rabies virus attacks the brain and is always fatal. Most pets are exposed to Rabies from wild animals particularly skunks, raccoons, bats and foxes. The disease can be transmitted to humans through the bite or scratch of an infected pet. Vaccination of all dogs and cats is the most effective means of control. More information on Rabies

Your cat/kittens health is very important. Taking you cat/kitten to the vet for it's regular checkup and vaccinations is very important. They can't tell you when they aren't feeling sick, so it's up to you. Since every state is different your vet will inform you of how many vaccinations your cat/kitten will need. It is normally 3 rounds of shots and a Rabie's. Remember a Healthy Cat is a Happy Cat.
